Foxton Reserves 4 – 1 Cambridge Ambassadors

Foxton Reserves started the brighter of the two teams with Alex Friend, assisted by Sam Bedlow, finishing clinically just after ten minutes. Cambridge Ambassadors levelled against the run of play after Foxton had dominated the 10 minutes after the opening goal with a good solo goal, the Foxton keeper having no chance.

The second half began with a formation tweak and substitutions from the manager Ashley Rushton. From these changes Sam then won a penalty which Alex Friend duly dispatched, sending the keeper the wrong way. Cambridge Ambassadors went on to concede an own goal from a well delivered corner not long after the penalty. The last goal was probably the best of the day with another through ball from Sam to Rhys Westbury who rounded the keeper delivering the stylish coup de grâce.

Foxton’s defence looked very comfortable with the new pairing of Stephen Sexton and Darren Jackson working well together throughout the match. The score line was a fair reflection of the home team’s domination with Foxton also hitting the woodwork half a dozen times.
