Foxton 1-2 C.U.P.
This week saw Foxton play host to Cambridge University Press on a cold and windy day at the Rec.
Foxton started brightly and had soon taken the lead when Jez headed home from Itchy’s free kick.
As the game progressed, Press gradually clawed their way back into it and eventually drew level with a neat turn and finish on about 35 minutes.
The second half was mainly dominated by Foxton but without the vital end product which was needed. The closest of which came with both Callum and Brendon having efforts well saved by the visiting Keeper, and what also looked a blatant penalty waived away. At the other end, Tom was also kept on his toes making a couple of good saves in the Foxton goal.
With Foxton pushing for the winning goal, Press then scored what turned out to be the winner on about 85 minutes, with a headed goal direct from a free kick – which seemed to the home supporter’s, another debatable decision.
It was a disappointing ending to the game, but it only goes to show we are moving in the right direction with another positive performance from the lads.
