Foxton 6-1 Eaton Socon
Foxton’s first home game of the season saw them play host to Eaton Socon on Tuesday evening, as they ran out with a 6-1 win.
Matty Chapman started lively, nearly scoring within the first thirty seconds, but was denied as he saw his shot hit the post and rebound kindly into the keepers arms. Soon after, he again went close as he forced the keeper to make a save from a header. Eventually however, Chapman did manage to open the scoring on 15 mins, after he controlled and finished well from Carlow’s free kick.
The lead was doubled on 27 mins, and this time it was Chapman who was the provider, playing in to Josh Sewell who finished well with his left foot.
Meanwhile at the other end, the visitors rarely tested Fraser in the Foxton goal.
Foxton had the perfect start to the second half, when on 47 mins, MOM James Meredith played a sublime pass for Alex Clark, who finished well, lobbing the Keeper.
To be fair to Socon, they kept working and managed to pull a goal back on 65 mins with a powerful finish from a half cleared ball.
Foxton didn’t let this get to them though, as Greig Dowding soon restored the 3 goal lead after he finished well from Jez McMurrough’s pass through.
Moments later, Greig repaid McMurrough after his final pass from a good sharp move resulted in Jez’s tidy finish in the bottom corner.
Then to round off the scoring in the last couple of minutes remaining, Roger Skeggs finished from close range after he latched on to David McMurrough’s centre.
