Cherry Hinton 0-1 Foxton
Foxton were back on the road Saturday, away to a new look Cherry Hinton side. Eventually coming home with a hard fought 1-0 victory, courtesy of an Eliot Keating goal.
The home team started the better of the two sides and were on top for the first 15 minutes and probably should’ve taken the lead, which they nearly did, but a shot from the forward hit the outside of the post.
Foxton then had their own opportunity to score when Itch put a chance on a plate for Skeggsy, but he could only shoot straight at the Keeper from close range.
After that, the rest of the half was pretty even, with the home team having plenty of the ball and Foxton staying solid in defence, whilst looking dangerous on the counter.
The second half again was fairly even with both sides going at it. The first chance went to Foxton who should’ve taken the lead when Eliot put Greig in on goal, but his shot was well saved by the home Keeper. The “Cherries” then had a glorious chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty after Gwynnie was very unluckily adjudged to have fouled, after the ball struck his hand whilst he charged a shot down. Fraser however, saved brilliantly low to his left.
This spurred Foxton on and they won the game with a bit of brilliance from Eliot Keating, after he plucked Brenny’s high clearance out of the sky and finished well past the home Keeper.
The game ended after a nervy but steady final 15 minutes for the visitors, as Foxton held their resolve and picked up the maximum three points.
