Eynesbury Rovers Res 5-1 Foxton
Foxton were away to Eynesbury Reserves in an unusual Friday night fixture and unfortunately came home on the end of a 5-1 drubbing.
If you had been watching the first thirty minutes then you probably would not have predicted the final score, as Foxton were in complete control. After dominating the early period and having missed several good chances they found themselves a goal down after a defensive mix up. Things soon went from bad to worse as two more goals were conceded in the next 10 minutes leaving Foxton 3-0 down at half time.
The next goal was going to be key and it went to the home side early in the second half, and, as in the first half, another soon followed.
Itch scored a consolation goal from a free kick to make it 5-1, and then was unlucky not to double his tally with a lob from distance after seeing the keeper off his line, which come back off the post.
Eynesbury themselves missed many a good opening to score more, but wasteful finishing and some good saves from Owen, who was standing in for the absent Fraser, kept the score line from being even higher.
Back to the drawing board for Foxton, and next week, finally a home game to look forward to.
Despite the defeat, a special mention goes out to Carlow who had a cracking game and must’ve done more miles than Forrest Gump.
