Foxton 2-1 Cambridge City Development
This Saturday finally saw Foxton with a home game against Cambridge City Development after a host of away games.
Foxton picked up 3 points in a game which looks a close scoreline, but in truth, should have been a bigger winning margin, but the home side were guilty of missing a fair few chances throughout the game.
This was evident as the home team went in at half time 1-0 down, after City had taken the lead with a header from a corner kick, after missing at least three early chances of their own.
Foxton had it all to do in the second half, and drew level courtesy of Itch’s Van Basten-esque volleyed finish from Ryan Lees’ free kick.
Roger Skeggs soon made it 2-1 to the home side when his determination in charging down the opposing Keeper, led to a solid block which nestled in the bottom corner.
City to their credit, played some good football for most of the game and with only one goal in it they were always in the game, and Foxton had to call on Luke Howard to make a great save late on to keep Foxton in front.
A deserved and honest 3 points for the hosts after a good competitive fixture.
