Eaton Socon 4-2 Foxton
This Saturday Foxton were away to Eaton Socon and despite taking the lead twice, came away with no points after a 4-2 scoreline.
Foxton opened up the scoring when Matty Chapman finished from close range, driving home Skeggsy’s cross.
This put the visitors into a buoyant mood and the home team had to weather the storm for a little bit, but Socon gradually grew more and more confident, putting Foxton under a constant pressure of their own. Luke Howard in goal having to make some decent saves to keep Foxton ahead. Pressure eventually told however when they scored a deserved equaliser with about five minutes remaining of the half.
Much to the home teams dismay, Foxton restored their lead straight away, when this time Chapman set Skeggs through on goal and he coolly scored past the keeper. Then to cap off a frantic few minutes, Luke then saved a penalty after he had fouled a Socon player in the box.
The second half was much the same, with the home team taking the game to Foxton and keeping them on the back foot. Foxton did have a few opportunities from counter attacks but these were to no avail, as every shot ended up off target.
Socon again drew level after they were awarded another penalty, this time it was Brenny who fouled his marker.
Now, with even more momentum, Socon were pushing on and took the lead with a screamer of a third goal from about 25 yards. And, to round off Foxtons bad day, another soft goal was conceded late on….. from a Foxton throw of all things!
Final result Socon 4- Foxton 2
