Hemingford 2-3 Foxton
Foxton travelled to Hemingford Saturday and came away with a hardworking, 3-2 victory, in testing conditions.
Foxton pretty much dominated the first period and were able to take a well deserved two-goal lead into half time. The first goal coming from Roger Skeggs after he collected Josh Sewell’s pass, then roasted the home defence before slotting through the keepers legs.
The lead was doubled when Eliot Keating smashed home Josh’s cross from the right.
The second half was more of a “backs to the wall” job, with home team pushing hard to get back in the game.
They pulled a deserved goal back after a wave of pressure. Foxton then showed good character as they dug in, working hard and defending well.
This paid off with the next goal coming from Jez. He received the ball from an Eliot corner, then after turning his man, curled a shot into the top corner from an acute angle, to make it 3-1.
Hemingford then scored pretty much straight from the kick off, which set up a nervy finish for the visitors, but they stayed strong and were able to see out the remaining minutes to collect a hard fought 3 points.
