Foxton 0-2 Great Shelford
Foxton were at home on Saturday against last years league champions, Great Shelford, who came into this game on the back of three defeats, and obviously desperate to get some points on the board.
The first half started fairly lively for both sides with both having some promising attacks, but without any end product. Foxton were playing quite well and the visitors looked as though they were struggling with some self confidence.
Unfortunately Foxton were unable to capitalise on this and went in all square.
Foxton were caught at the start of the second half with their heads still in the dressing room, with Shelford scoring within only a minute of the restart. This goal fired the visitors up and the internal pressure they were holding, vanishing, as they went on to have a dominant spell with a flurry of attacks, but fortunately without troubling Brad too much.
Foxton kept plugging away but were finding it very difficult to get anything out of the resilient Shelford back line. Eliot Knight had the best chance when Ada’s quickly taken free kick set him on his way goal ward, but his shot went high and wide.
Shelford scored again on about 80 minutes, and with this, pretty much killed any hopes of a Foxton come back.
The last five minutes saw a sin bin for both sides and straight red for the visitors after a strong challenge on Evers. Shelford were able to keep Foxton at bay and picked up a deserved 3 points.
