Cherry Hinton 4-2 Foxton
Foxton crashed out of the Premier League cup on Saturday with a 4-2 defeat against current league leaders Cherry Hinton.
The home team produced a dominant first 45 minutes taking a 2-0 lead in to half time. In all fairness, it could easily have been game over by half time if it wasn’t for Brad in goal, who pulled of some great saves including 3 one on ones.
Foxton really struggled to string a pass together and so failed to create much in the sense of chances.
The second half started much the same, with the Cherries again being the dominant force, as they scored another goal to extend their lead to 3.
Despite the uphill task, Foxton didn’t throw the towel in and a couple of substitutions and positional changes appeared to make a difference with Foxton finally getting going.
They got on the scoresheet via an Ada free kick, which flew past everybody into the top corner. Then, about 15 minutes later, pulled another goal back when Justin flicked on Itchy’s cross, for Jake Williams to prod home from close range.
Things were now getting interesting and it’s fair to say that Foxton had Cherries on the back foot. A Foxton penalty appeal was waived away, and powerful strike from Ada, which was definitely going to test the home keeper, took an unlucky defection off Itchy and went safe.
Cherries were not really causing that much of a threat now, offering only limited bodies going forward. However, in the final minutes of the game, they found what they needed to do to win the match, with a penalty, after Brad had scythed down a cherries player.
Foxton didn’t have time to respond and the score finished 4-2 to the home side.
