Tydd 0-9 Foxton

Foxton were on the road on Saturday, with a looooooong journey to Tydd St Giles in the Challenge Cup .

Foxton started well and pretty much had the game won after a strong opening spell.

Jake Williams put us 1 up on 5 minutes, when he headed home from Ada’s free kick. Jake then became provider when he slotted Justin through, and his left footed shot across the keeper found the far corner. Jake stayed in the thick of the action and turned provider once again, when he picked out Eliot Keating, who coolly beat a couple of players and slammed home from close range.

Pretty much straight away it was 4-0 when Justin finished from close range, from Liams low driven cross. That was all after only 15 minutes.

Foxton then went on to miss a host chances, with some poor finishing, and the woodwork also keeping them out.

A fifth goal came on about the half hour mark when Jake got his second, this time from Eliot Keating’s pass.

HT 0-5.

Foxton started the second half just liked they had started the first, scoring early on, when Eliot Knight headed home Evers’s pin point cross.

Three minutes later it was 7, with Jake again providing the assist, this time to Josh Segrave who hammered a shot home in off the post…..  a very good goal to be honest.

Justin completed his hat-trick on about 75 minutes, when he scored from the rebound of his own penalty, which the home keeper had saved.

Jake also completed his hat-trick from the spot, smashing home into the top corner giving the keeper no chance.

FT 0-9

We would like to credit and thank our hosts Tydd, who are going through a tough time at the moment after recently being promoted to step 7. Whilst the game was pretty one sided, they never threw in the towel and kept working hard for each other and their club. We obviously wish them well in the future and would like to thank them for getting this game on after a tough week of off/on negotiations. We also of course welcome their hospitality at the Five Bells after the game.

Finally, a special mention to our travelling fans who pretty much gave up their entire day,  making the long journey on the coach with the players, to create a good atmosphere for all. THANK YOU.

MOM… Jake Williams for his 3 goals and 3 assists.
