Foxton 2-4 Over Sports
Foxton hosted Over Sports on Saturday and unfortunately came out on the wrong side of a 4-2 scoreline.
Over started well and in the first ten minutes had two opportunities to take the lead but on both occasions Brad saved well with his feet. They were firmly on top and were making Foxton defend far too often.
Foxton took the lead against the run of play when Josh Segrave converted Jez’s cross. It was hoped that this would give the home side the kick start they needed, but instead, Over hit back scoring from close range to pull level only five minutes later.
Then, within a five minute spell, Foxton were 3-1 down. On reflection, this was deserved scoreline for the visitors.
The half time team talk was blown out of the window immediately when Over got a 4th goal pretty much from the kick off.
Foxton were forced to make a couple of changes, Ada, had to go in goal for the third time this season when Brad’s knee was causing him too many problems. Itch was introduced to magic something up for us, and Luca Dusi also went on for his debut appearance. Carlow had also entered the picture at half time.
This led to a slight change of shape and it paid dividends almost immediately. Jez pulled a goal back on the hour mark heading home Itch’s corner.
Foxton now finally burst into life and were pegging Over back. Carlow, inspirational in this with his relentless high tempo pressing, which had an impact on his team mates. Foxton were now having many attacks, but Over’s back line managed to block all our openings to keep their two goal lead.
It’s fair to say that in the last 25 minutes, Foxton probably could’ve snatched a draw or even won the game with the amount of pressure they were creating, but to be honest, that would’ve been day light robbery. Over were impressive and deserved winners, and even missed a late penalty to extend their lead.
