Chatteris Town 2-7 Foxton
Foxton were on the road with a trip to Chatteris, this week, and came away with all three points.
After all the recent rain the match was switched to a 3G surface to get the game played, although, conditions weren’t great with strong winds blowing across the pitch.
Foxton took the lead within 3 minutes, when Rob “Capi” Gwynne’s bullet header, from Ada’s corner, gave the keeper no chance.
The game then went into a bit of a funk and was pretty dull and poor to be honest, with far too many stray passes and too many bad decisions from the Foxton team. Chatteris, had a couple of shooting opportunities due to the poor play from Foxton, but they didn’t trouble Aaron in goal.
A second goal came on 25 minutes, courtesy of a Jez McMurrough penalty, after Josh Segrave had been chopped down. Moments later, it was 3-0, when Jez grabbed his second goal, with a good turn and finish from Segrave’s pass.
Foxton gradually managed to pick their game up and then had a strong 15 minutes to the end of the half. Ada got the fourth goal, with a quality first time, long range finish, from just inside the Chatteris half after he had intercepted a pass. “Capi” then grabbed his second goal, with another header, this time from an Ada corner, to make it 5-0.
Segrave grabbed the 6th goal, tapping home from close range, after yet another assist from Ada, from the right side of the box.
Scotty Shuter then grabbed the 7th goal, after Segrave played him through, and he slotted past the keeper.
In all fairness, the first half wasn’t great, but the second half was unacceptable from a Foxton perspective. The home side deservedly scoring two goals, which their attitude and spirit deserved. At 7-0 it could’ve got much worse for them, but they didn’t allow that to happen, they worked hard, kept a good shape and scored when they had the opportunity.
