Ely City Res 2-3 Foxton

Foxton kicked off the 20/21 season with a trip to Ely City Reserves.

In all fairness the game wasn’t the best spectacle but Foxton managed to grind out a win and bring home the three points.

Ely got a great start and were soon comfortably ahead scoring two goals in quick succession, the second one coming from the penalty spot.

Foxton although still not playing particularly well at this point, found a lifeline, when Lewis Jackaman pulled a goal back just before half time with a deflected shot from about 25 yards, after Justin had teed him up.

After a chance to regroup at the break, Foxton stepped up their game, equalising on 55 minutes, when Justin Leavers smashed home from close range via a Matty Graver cross.

Despite now being level and the home team looking rattled, Foxton failed to create anything of much substance to take the lead. However, in the 88th minute Jake Williams popped up to head home a Luke Gatford cross, giving his side the full quota points.
